Board and Commission Opportunities

The City of Centerville has current openings on the following Boards and Commission. Click on the individual Board or Commission for a description of activities.

Interested residents must complete an application and submit to:

Applicants will be interviewed by the Centerville City Council. Should Council decide to appoint the prospective board member, he/she will be invited to attend the next Council meeting to take the oath of office.


CIVIC Municipal Volunteer Opportunities

The City of Centerville has a variety of short- and long- term positions and special projects positions in City offices including Benham’s Grove, Building Inspection Office, Police Department, City Manager's Office, Clerk's Office, Engineering Department, Planning Department, Public Works Department and The Golf Club at Yankee Trace. Position openings vary with departments. Please contact the Community Resources Coordinator, 428-4765, for specific openings.

Following are specific volunteer opportunities, not all departments have openings:

Benham's Grove

  • Landscaper: assist with plantings, flowers, etc. flexible days/hours

City Manager's Office

  • Courier: Deliver interoffice mail to four City sites
  • Scrapbook Coordinator: Coordinate city news clippings, file, and paste in book
  • General, On-Call Volunteers: Assist with short-term projects on a short notice (mailings, reception duties, etc.)

Clerk's Office

  • Courier: As needed
  • Clerical: Scan records and other documents, as needed
  • General, On-Call Volunteers: Assist with short-term projects on a short notice (mailings, reception duties, etc.)

Building Inspection Office

  • Clerical: Scan records and other documents, as needed
  • General, On-Call Volunteers: Assist with short-term projects on a short notice (mailings, reception duties, etc.)

Planning

  • Clerical: as needed
  • Courier: deliver Planning Commission and other information as needed

Police Department

  • Courier: deliver mail and documents, as needed
  • Speed Board: in teams of two, monitor vehicle speed on various Centerville Streets
  • General, on-call volunteers, assist Police department with one-time only projects on an as needed/as available basis

Public Works Department

  • Receptionist: answer phones
  • Engineering Assistant: plot accidents

Yankee Trace Golf Course

Volunteer Information and application can be found at http://www.yankeetrace.org under Employment.

  • Greeter/ Player Assistant: Greet guests, provide customer service, monitor pace of play 
  • Shuttle Driver: drive guests in shuttle
  • Tee & Green Repair/Golf Course Preparation: Assist in maintenance for tee and greens repair
  • Landscapers: Assist in planting and maintaining flowers throughout course

Yankee Trace Restaurant

  • Receptionist: Answer phones and other clerical duties, as needed 11:00am - 1:00pm
