The following is a list of qualifications, benefits and compensation for the job of Police Officer and Records/Communications Specialist.
Each applicant must complete the following:
- Preliminary Interview
- Supervisor's Interview
- Background Investigation
- Polygraph Examinations
- Police Chief Interview
- Psychological Examination
- OSHP Academy Minimum Fitness Standard Examination
- Medical Evaluation
This process may take as long as 20 weeks.
Upon appointment as Police Officer, you will be attending the Ohio State Patrol Academy. During this (23) twenty-three week period, you will participate in an intensive training program which exceeds the minimum standards set forth by the Ohio Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
Upon graduation from the Ohio State Patrol Academy, you will be assigned to a field training officer. During this training period, you will apply the information you learned in the academy. You will receive additional personal training and will be observed and evaluated on a daily basis. This intensive training will help prepare you for an exciting career in law enforcement with the Centerville Police Department.

Qualifications
- at least 21 years of age
- U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor's Degree required
- good physical condition
- must be able to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license
- Must:
- successfully complete all recruitment phases
- be capable of completing rigorous academic/physical
- Fitness program at the ohio state highway patrol
- Academy and meet the academy's entry requirements
