Founded in 1796, it was not until 1968 that the village of Centerville met the State of Ohio threshold of 5,000 electors to earn city status. Now, 50 years later, Centerville is home to nearly 24,000 residents. City status is certainly a reason to celebrate! Please join us throughout 2018 as your City commemorates its 50th year of incorporation - Gold and Cheerful Centerville! We're offering special community events throughout the year including an anniversary party and concert, fall festival and a bigger tree lighting ceremony on December 2 - to celebrate the City’s actual birthdate. View our calendar of events.

Anniversary Exhibit at Asahel Wright House
Where were you in 1968? If you were living in Centerville, you shopped at Elder-Beerman and Imperial Foodtown, paid $1.50 to see “The Graduate” and “The Odd Couple” at local cinemas or watched a Saturday kids’ matinee at Town Hall, ate a nice dinner at Antonio’s and The Wishing Well and grabbed a bite to eat at Poor Richard's. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Diana Ross and the Supremes topped the charts. Take a step back in time while enjoying Centerville-Washington History’s exhibit on Centerville’s 50th Anniversary at the Asahel Wright House, 26 N. Main Street. Have some items for the exhibit that you’re willing to share? Call Centerville-Washington History, 433-0123.
Celebrate your City’s 50th with Bill’s Donuts - a Centerville Tradition
In commemoration of Centerville’s 50th year of incorporation as a city, the Elam family of Bill’s Donuts is celebrating with a special donut! Stop by Ohio’s Best Donuts at 268 N. Main Street to try our 50th Anniversary signature donut! Bill’s donut shops’ beginnings pre-date our City status, as a location near Main and Franklin streets opened in 1967, later moving to the current location in 1979.
